NOTIFICATION
In 2013 we became aware of a single and isolated incident where a BoSS X3 Micro Powered Access Platform continued to operate after the user released the platform raise button on the hand-held controller. Following this incident we put in place a communications campaign with a remedial plan to check and upgrade all affected machines.
The solenoid valve upgrade kits, together with fitting instructions were sent to all who had purchased machines manufactured before November 2012, who responded to the communication.
On 27th October 2016, we were notified of a second incident affecting one of the machines within this same batch of serial numbers, which unfortunately was not upgraded. If your company purchased machines within this period, we request you to re-check that all machines were upgraded as per our initial request.
Please check your BoSS X-Series Micro Powered Access machine
If you have any machines that are affected by this notice that have not been upgraded then please contact us immediately. Only those machines within this batch are affected by this issue.

I have not received a communication but my machine may be affected.
If you have a BoSS X-Series machine with a serial number within the above ranges, verify the upgrade kit has been fitted by following these 4 simple visual checks;
- There is a red knurled knob fitted to the ascent/descent platform valve
- There is a red webbing strap fitted to the 100 amp fuse inside the base unit draw
- Cable number 13 is fitted to connection number 3 on the terminal block inside the base unit draw
- There is a white label on the outside of the draw ("Two Way Valve Fitted")
If all the above are present, then the upgrade kit has been fitted. If one, or more, of the above are missing then it is highly likely that the upgrade has either not been fitted, or has been fitted incorrectly.
If you are in any doubt, please call the WernerCo Customer Services Team on 01621 745 900 or email [email protected].
I am not sure how to check the machine or how to fit the valve upgrade kit.
Please browse the Instructions for further instructions. The step by step guide shows how to double check that the valve upgrade kit has been fitted and how / where to affix the enclosed labels.
If you are in any doubt regarding how to check the machine serial number, how to check if the 2-way solenoid valve is fitted or are unsure how, or would prefer us, to fit the valve upgrade kit (only machines with serial numbers within the 'affected range' need to be upgraded), please call the WernerCo Customer Services Team on 01621 745 900 or email [email protected] who will be happy to arrange for an engineer to visit.
Can I fit the 'BoSS X-Series Approved' sticker on any BoSS X-Series machines?
BoSS X-Series Approved sticker
Please DO NOT fit the sticker to any other BoSS X-Series machine or one where the serial number falls within the affected range but the upgrade has not been carried out. So that we can maintained full traceability.
